Don't judge the rating of this picture by the number of stars I gave it, I simply rank originality and vision lower simply because it is an eagle, and it's something I have seen numerous times.

That being said, I really dig this picture. For one, the bird is posed perfectly, nice side/front profile going on so you see all the important parts, which is tough to show when you are shooting underneath.

Another thing that I am impressed by is the lighting, I personally find shooting birds above extremely hard since the bright sky always creates a dark silhouette of the subject, and no detail can be seen, here you have overcome that and done it very well, and the sky is not overexposed either.

Overall, I think this is a very well done photograph, it's taken with amazing technique, and a really great and clearly successful attempt at photographing this subject for your first time.

Bravo and keep up the great work!!

Lovely shot Alannah. I always end up burning out the underside of the wings when shooting birds from underneath, directly against the sky. So well done keeping all the detail in this shot.

For a first real attempt, it turned out awesome! No blurring, which is hard to achieve! Also, he isn't washed out against the sky or underexposed, which is also a feat.

oh i herd about these being re introduced or was that a diffrent bird, they did it in a woodland in the north west last year. Its nice to see something new and flying birds are hard this i do know because of the height and speed so its sometimes hard to udge but you pulled it off quite well

They're only in about 7pockets in the UK, I think they where originally introduced either in the Chilterns or somewhere in Wales. They're fast though, hoping to go back and get some better ones now I know more about the location:D

Thanks Katy!

I really like this photo, how were you able to photograph the bird without getting a black silhouette or having the sky overexposed, I always have trouble with these kinds of shots

Wow Alannah.. This is really good. I'm amazed you got a shot like this first time ^^

Great focus and colours. shame about Britain's backdrop but that can't be helped :XD:

Kinda lucky I had enough light too, shutter speeds had to be high to catch them.

Yup, might try and drag mum out super early, see if I can get any different shots of them in the morning, more hunting done then, so possibly lower down/on the ground.
