Vision: Well, to start off, the color quality is EXCELLENT. The head is in the perfect position. And the beak is beautiful. I love all the vivid green around the exuberant white and black of the Puffin. Along with the stunning orange around the eye to top it all off.
Originality: Completely original. I have seen nothing like this, with a puffin that is. Most you will see of puffins is on a ledge, with fish in its mouth. Or just looking over to rocks unto the ocean. This, is full focus on the beauty of this cute little bird!
Technique. I really like the position the camera for this shot, however it is important for it to show fore ground and the front, I think it was a little too much blur. Maybe if it was cropped slightly, it would be a lot, lot better. Other then that, perfect.
Impact: Over all just an excellent photo. He seems very pleased with himself, and I just love it overall!
This is a key example of how much you're improving in this style of photography. I absolutely love this shot, and full view is just better.
As for the image itself, technically it's amazing. The focus on the Puffin is spot on, and the bokeh in the background is almost studeo-like, really making the Puffin stand out. The great thing is the focus on the foreground is out too, really drawing the eye to the image centre. I think this is one of those shots that truely works with a central focus point. The lines from the sides of the hill really draws the readers eye to the photographs focus, and the angle of the bird just adds to the impact.
Overall a great times and amazingly executed shot. Well done Alannah
Wow!!! I absolutely ADORE the depth of field, it allows the viewer to focus on the puffin so well, and the color is amazing, as quite a few have already said.
