Not really, most shots i take with it look sharp but when getting back aren't.. just makes things feel like a waste

I tried it on the sigma 150mm and it was okay, but tried it with the canon 100-400 and wasn't keen on quality out.

Was that the Sigma TC? They often mess with quality, especially on an F5.6 lens.. it's already F8 with a 1.4, F10 with a 1.7 and F11 with a 2x... never going to do much :P
Which one did you try? The 2x ones have reputations for being horribly soft one pretty much all brands..
